Sarah Elizabeth Moore Blanton 1938-2025
Sarah Blanton (Granny Surry), 86, of Grayson, passed away Friday, January 10, 2025, at her residence. Click here to watch livestream She was born June 3, 1938, in Carter County, a daughter of the late Dave and Alice Moore Moore. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Blanton; a grandson, David Wesley Blanton; six sisters, Madonna Wilburn, Virginia Caldwell, Doris Clark, Virgie Flannery, Ruby Marshall, and Juanita Wilburn.
Granny Surry was a homemaker and mother and volunteered at many area events, including Meals on Wheels, and singing at many funerals and nursing homes. She is survived by and responsible for a son, David (Katherine) Blanton of Grayson, KY; three grandchildren, Amanda (Adam) Willis of Garrison, KY, Amy (Mason) Felty of Rush, KY; and Max Blanton of Morehead, KY; fourteen great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. at the Sparks Funeral Home, Mickey King, minister. Burial will follow in the Cribbs Hill Cemetery. Mason Felty, Max Blanton, Adam Willis, Levi Felty, Brady Felty, Whyatt Blanton, Gabe Blanton, and Mike Clannin will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be Tuesday, January 14, 2025, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and after 9:00 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
