Obituary of Sarah Coldiron Camden
Sarah Coldiron Camden, 77, of Lexington, Kentucky passed away on July 17, 2022. Sarah was born February 15, 1945, in the town of Louellen in Harlan County, Kentucky. She graduated from Carrollton High School in Carrollton, Ohio in 1963. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from the University of Kentucky in 1967. While at the University of Kentucky, she met the love of her life, David Brent Camden. They were married December 23, 1967, in Stanton, Kentucky and enjoyed 54 years of married life together.
After college, Sarah worked for several years as an elementary school teacher in Fayette and Powell Counties before embarking on her true career calling, that of Mom. At this unpaid, often thankless, and never-ending job, she truly excelled and never retired. Until her last day, she embodied all the qualities that made her an incredibly impactful mother. Sarah also worked part-time through the years as a pre-school teacher, substitute teacher, and administrative assistant. Sarah was generous in sharing her time and talents with her community and friends, including volunteering for God's Pantry Food Bank and using her knitting skills to make hats for premature infants born at local hospitals, but her primary focus was always her chosen career as a mom and grandmother.
Sarah lived in Niceville, Florida for 23 years before returning to Lexington, Kentucky in 2000. Sarah was a member of Central Baptist Church in Lexington, Kentucky. She enjoyed singing in church and community choirs and was a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels. Those who knew and loved Sarah will miss her deeply caring and loving personality as well as her sheer enthusiasm for life. This enthusiasm was never more on display than when she could travel to Hawaii to experience adventures in hiking, whale watching, and eating new delicacies, or when visiting Walt Disney World with her children, grandchildren, and later, just with her husband. Sarah's zest for life was also on display when she could share stories and photos with friends and family about those adventures. Over the last 20 plus years, Sarah also enjoyed following and celebrating the many exploits and achievements of her grandchildren.
Sarah is survived by her husband, David Brent; daughter, Michelle (Dan) Eubank of Lexington, KY; son, Andie Brent (Todd Johnson) Camden of Louisville, KY; granddaughter, Katelyn Eubank of Fort Lauderdale, FL; grandson, Camden Eubank of Lexington, KY; and sister, Maxine Bray of New Tazwell, TN.
Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, William and Virginia Coldiron.
The family will receive friends beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Friday July 22, 2022 at Clark Legacy Center- Brannon Crossing. A celebration of her life will take place at 7:00 p.m. that evening with a reception meal to follow.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Central Baptist Church tree planting initiative or God's Pantry Food Bank in Lexington.
