Scott Alfred Petersen, 70, of
Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina, passed away suddenly on January 9, 2026. Born May 29, 1955, in
Fort Benning, Georgia, Scott was known for his warmth, quick wit, generous spirit, and unmistakable zest for life.
A graduate of Old Dominion University with a degree in Finance, Scott built a successful career in executive and leadership roles across the software sector, most recently at CAST. He approached every role, project, and relationship with integrity and dedication. Scott had a way of asking, "What can I be doing for you?" and truly meaning it.
Scott had a gift for making people feel comfortable and genuinely seen. Conversation flowed easily around him, laughter followed naturally, and his playful energy was contagious. Ever the jokester, Scott could make anyone laugh or roll their eyes with equal charm, always knowing just the right moment to lighten the mood or deliver a perfectly timed remark.
Outside of work, Scott embraced life fully. He loved boating, running, biking, and the outdoors. He cherished an annual guys' trip with close friends, enjoyed cooking, and brought extra cheer to holidays with his homemade Kahlúa. He deeply loved animals and devoted himself wholeheartedly to his six rescue companions-dogs Firehouse, Tippie, Arkie, and Bella, and cats Charlie and Bells-who were truly family to him.
Scott was preceded in death by his father, retired Colonel Darwin Alfred Petersen; his father-in-law, Eugene Shreve; and his brother-in-law, Randy Shreve.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda; his mother, Rosemary; his sisters, Jacque and her wife Janet, and Kim and her husband Jeff; his nephew Nicholas, who was like a son to him, and nieces Stephanie and Christina. He also leaves behind countless friends, colleagues, and animals whose lives are better for having known him.
