Obituary published on Legacy.com by Serenity Funeral Home of Bluffdale on Sep. 9, 2024.
Sean Lester Ferrin the greatest dad, "papa", brother, uncle, son, and friend passed away on September 3, 2024, at the age of 54 after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
He was born on April 17, 1970, to Lester and Connie Ferrin in Salt Lake City Utah. Sean graduated from Granger High School in 1988. He married Carol Ferrin (divorced) in Elko in 1992, they have three beautiful girls together.
Sean enjoyed life and had so many hobbies and passions. His projects in wood and metal working impressed anyone who saw them, and he loved making things for the people in his life, especially for his family. He enjoyed football and Nascar his favorite team being the Cowboys and driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. Hunting, camping, and fishing were a huge part of his life, and he loved sharing it with everyone he could especially his children, and grandchildren. He had many successful hunts in his lifetime, but his proudest accomplishment hunting was when he was successful in getting his buffalo. When he discovered his love for political commentary it became a huge part of his life much to everyone else's dismay, especially his girls who found it so incredibly boring. He loved working on, tinkering with, and operating anything with an engine, a passion he inherited from his father. Sean could fix just about anything, and many will never forget his ability to "MacGyver" things together in a pinch.
There was nothing that was more important to Sean than his family and he was absolutely the best dad to ever exist. He loved his daughters unconditionally as well as his niece and nephew who were his honorary children. Sean was an incredibly hard worker. He started working with his dad at Judd Jones Refractory Inc shortly into his adult hood and worked there most of his life. He did everything he could to make sure that his girls had everything they needed (and most of the time everything they wanted). When he became a grandpa all the qualities that made him a great dad were magnified times a hundred to make him the best "papa" that any boy could ask for. Nothing made him happier than events where all his family could be together, and he did everything he could to visit and spend time with his grandkids as much as possible. Sean was the oldest of three children and was an excellent big brother (most of the time). He scared away a lot of his sister's dates growing up but when she met the right person Sean met a new lifelong friend and brother. Sean and Chad had many adventures together over the years some good and some very questionable.
Sean was a very kind, funny, and generous person. He was always the first to crack a joke or lend a hand wherever he could. He was loved by everyone who knew him (even though he could have his grumpy moments, particularly with people he worked with). The world will always be a duller place without him, and he will be dearly missed by all that knew him.
He is survived by his mother, his sister Penny (Chad) Cornish, his brother Kris Ferrin, his children Tawny (Jacob) Bonzo, Kristen (Carter) Henrie, Brittany Ferrin, his honorary children Shelby Cornish, Cody Cornish, his three grandsons Wyatt, Jaxson, & Tucker Henrie, his nieces, nephews, and his faithful hunting companion Sadie. He was preceded in death by his father and nephew Casey Cornish.
A viewing will be held on Saturday September 14th, 2024, from 5-7 pm at Serenity Event Center 13863 S. 2700 W.
