Devoted family patriarch, Chuck leaves behind his family: children Russ (Molly) Nieves, Laura Kennedy, Jeff (Denise) Nieves, Karen Nieves, Thomas (Nancy) Curry, Cynthia (James) Vinson; grandchildren Jessie, Max, Cristina and Anthony Nieves, Tara Balthazor, Micha (Anthony) Browning, John Curry, Derek (Ashley) Vinson, and Emily Vinson. He is also survived by his brother, Tony Nieves, numerous great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Chuck was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Micha Nieves; his parents, Serafin Sr. and Sarah Nieves; and his siblings, Sarita "Cookie" Pero, Amparo Nieves, Manuel Nieves, and Lena Gostiovich.
Chuck made significant contributions to the automotive industry during his accomplished career. His dedication was evident in his 40-year tenure as a Plant Engineer for Cadillac Motor Car Division at the Conner Plant. After retirement, Chuck continued using his skills for an additional 10 years as a Maintenance Manager for Benteler Automotive Corporation in Galesburg.
Beyond his work, Chuck was known for his genuine love for life and boundless energy. A true outdoorsman at heart, he loved fishing and boating. He was an active golfer and found great joy in being on the green. His love for family was immense and they were truly the joy of his life. He cherished the moments going out to eat with friends and spending time with his loved ones.
A memorial service for Chuck will take place in the summer of 2024. Memorials to Barry County Animal Shelter will be appreciated. Please visit www.williamsgoresfuneral.com to share a memory or leave a condolence message for Chuck's family.
