Shannon "Shaney Boat" Lydic Obituary
Of Braddock, age 45, died unexpectedly on Thursday, January 25, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, love, and a brightness that touched everyone she knew.
Beloved daughter of Norma Jean (Hank Funaiock, Jr.) Lydic and David (Lynn) Lydic.
Shannon was the dear mother of Haley and Skylar Stritzinger, both of North Braddock. She embraced the role of motherhood with a fierce love and dedication that was evident to all. Her joy only multiplied with the arrival of her cherished grandchildren, Za-Kai and Kenneth Stritzinger, who became a central part of her universe.
As a loving sister, Shannon shared an unbreakable bond with Stacey Lynn Lydic of Monroeville, and David Glade (married to Kristin) Lydic of Harrison City. She was a fun and doting aunt to many nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
Preceded in death by her former husband, Kenneth John Stritzinger, who died on April 20, 2023.
Shannon was a proud graduate of Gateway High School, Class of '96. She carried her passion for helping others into her studies at the Western School of Health and Business, where she pursued a nursing degree. Though her career path took various turns, Shannon found joy in every role she undertook. She cherished her time as a server in Florida, basking in the sun and the vibrant beach life she adored. Eventually, she returned to her roots in Pennsylvania to be closer to her family, becoming a supervisor at Norma Jean's Cleaning and Fire Restoration. She also worked at UPMC Magee as a CNA. Shannon also shared her vibrant personality with many as a bartender at various establishments.
Beyond her professional life, Shannon had a great sense of humor that could light up the darkest of rooms. Her playful spirit earned her the affectionate title of "Shaney Boat," and she had a special nickname for everyone she held dear. Shannon's interests were as diverse as her talents; she was an avid attendee of rodeos, could often be found singing her heart out at karaoke nights, and had a passion for motorcycles that matched her adventurous spirit.
A gifted poet, Shannon had a way with words that could capture the essence of any moment or feeling. Her poetry was a window into her soul, showcasing her depth and sensitivity. Above all, Shannon worshipped her children and grandbaby. They were the cornerstone of her life, and her profound love for them was evident in every action she took and every word she spoke.
Friends welcome Sunday 12-6 p.m. at the Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Turtle Creek / Monroeville Chapel, 1111 Monroeville Ave., Turtle Creek, 412-823-9350 where a Funeral Service will be held at 5:00 p.m.

Sending my condolences and prayers to her family and friends. I met Shannon several years ago when she was a bartender at The Sub Alpine. May fond memories of Shannon help ease the pain of all who knew and loved her. Rest in Peace, Shannon. Memory Eternal.
