Sharon Kay Block, 79, of Bellevue, NE left her earthly home peacefully in her sleep on August 14, 2025, at the home of her loving daughter and son-in-law.
Sharon was born in Kansas City, MO, the fifth child and third daughter of Verner Wayne and Gladys (Koehler) Morris. Sharon was a shy child but enjoyed playing the accordion, going dancing with her best friend, and working on the school newspaper. She graduated from Raytown High School in 1964 and worked various jobs throughout her early career, including booking advertisements for a local television station in California where she got to meet a few celebrities and also was asked to be a hand model for one of the advertisers. Sharon stayed home after her daughter was born and eventually went back to work as a secretary for Stadium Sheet Metal in Raytown.
Sharon met the love of her life, Jeryl Block, at Victory Baptist Church in 1965 and they were joined in marriage December 13, 1969. Theirs was a true love story – they were in many ways an example of how opposites attract, but their faith in God, their love for their family, and love for each other bonded them together and never waned. Jeryl and Sharon spent many of the early years of their marriage in California, where their two daughters were born; Carrie April (who preceded Sharon in death) and Nancy Kay. They wound up back "home" in Raytown in 1984 where they lived happily until Jeryl's death in 2022. After Jeryl passed, Nancy and her husband, Trigg, encouraged Sharon to move closer to them in the Omaha area. Sharon settled into life in Omaha well, enjoying as much time with her grandchildren as possible.
Sharon was a true lady, showing kindness and love to all those in her life. She loved Jesus and was a great example of His love here on earth. Sharon and Jeryl were very involved in the churches that they belonged to over the years and Sharon taught Sunday School for many years of her life, enjoying doing deep studies of the Bible. Sharon was fun-loving and always up for an adventure. She found joy in spending time with her family, beating friends and family at intense games of Scrabble, and getting in as many Zumba and other dance-fitness classes as possible. Though she will be greatly missed by family and many friends, we take comfort in knowing Sharon is now in the presence of our Lord – rejoicing in Heaven, cancer-free and reunited with her Jerry.
She is survived by her daughter Nancy (Trigg) Wold; grandchildren Aiden, Aunnika, and Addisen Wold (and grand dogs Fezzik and Bella) of Bellevue, NE; her brothers Wayne Morris (Beverly) and Larry Morris (Janice); sisters-in-law Sherald Morris and Pricilla Crank, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services for Sharon will be held on Friday, August 22nd, at Heartland Cremation and Burial Society, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown, Missouri 64133. The visitation will be at 10am followed by the memorial service at 11am.
