Sharon Patricia Paquet, age 83, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2024. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a beloved educator.
Sharon was born in 1941 in Chester, PA and raised on Lloyd Steet, the daughter of the late Walter and Cora Holt and the sister of the late Patricia Nelson-Miles. She moved to Boothwyn, PA in her teen years and graduated from Chichester High School. She was a graduate of West Chester State College, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in secondary education.
Sharon was a math teacher at Brookhaven Jr. High School from 1963-1966 where she met her future husband, Philip Paquet. She loved to tell the story of how they met, as Phil interviewed her for the position in his capacity as chairman of the math department. She got the job, but more importantly found the love of her life, as they started dating after the faculty holiday party that year. They were married in 1965 in Collingdale and raised their family of three daughters in Prospect Park, PA. Sharon was a stay-at-home mother until after her youngest daughter started school. She then joined her husband, who was teaching math at Ridley High School, as a substitute teacher until she retired.
Sharon was a long-term resident of Prospect Park and then West Chester, PA, until moving to Riddle Village Retirement Community in 2019. She was a loving and devoted caregiver to her husband who passed away in 2001. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she was a caring, supportive and involved grandparent.
Her interests included cross stitch, needle point, crossword and logic puzzles. She was an avid reader and was a fiercely competitive board game and card player, as well as a trivia expert, as evidenced by the numerous gold medals she earned at her retirement community trivia competitions.
Sharon is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and David Jones of Worton, Maryland, and daughters Laurie Paquet (Karl) of Rock Hall, Maryland and Deb Trent of Elkton, Maryland. She is also survived by her grandchildren Zachary Harrison (Stephanie, and soon to be born great granddaughter), Brianna Paquet, Alexandra Tolassi, Dustin and Brasen Trent, and many great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation 9:30-11:00 AM Friday, November 29th at Donohue Funeral Home, 1627 West Chester Pike, West Chester, PA 19382, followed by a graveside service and burial at Lawn Croft Cemetery in Linwood, PA.
