Shawn “Bear” Black, 41, of Logansport passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2025.
Born on November 23, 1983, in Logansport, he was the son of Tim and Teresa (Birnell)
Black.
He was a 2002 Pioneer High School graduate where he also wrestled.
Shawn loved to fish and swim. He loved fireworks and creating things. His favorite
pastime was coaching and playing baseball and softball with his kids. He was currently
the assistant coach of Logansport Savings Bank Little League baseball team and the
assistant coach of the Sycamore girls’ softball team. He loved every minute he got out
on the ball field coaching. He took pride in everything he did. Shawn could fix anything.
If he couldn't he would find a way. He was a maintenance mechanic at Tyson Foods in
Logansport, where he worked there just shy of 9 years. He loved supporting his family
and friends and helping wherever he could.
He was currently employed at Tyson Foods.
Survivors include his fiancé, Tori Weese of Logansport, daughter, Peyton Black of
Logansport, son, Sawyer Black of Logansport, mother, Teresa Taylor (Alan) of
Logansport, brother, Jamie Black of Logansport, sister, Becky Denny (Bud) of Squaw
Lake, Minnesota, step children, Aubriea Adair, Kerigan, and Gabi Weese,
step mother, Kathy, step sister, Summer, nephew, Brian
Denny, nieces, Kohlee Black, Jocelyn Ray, his great niece and birthday twin, Ember
Denny, great niece, Alice Denny and great nephew, Grayson Ray.
He was preceded in death by his father, Tim Black and grandparents, Ann Brook (Bob),
Dewey Birnell and Norma and Forrest Baker.
Services will be at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, April 13, 2025, at Rans Funeral Homes &
Crematory, Marocco Chapel, 119 E. Market St., Logansport with Pastor Lisa Fike
officiating.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
