Shawn Kirby Spinale, age 42, of Rome, GA, was welcomed into the arms of the Lord to his eternal home on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, after a long and hard-fought battle with brain cancer.
Shawn was born on April 6, 1982, in San Diego, California to his loving parents, Frank Kirby "Skip" Spinale and Rosanna Lentini-Duncan.
Survivors include his father, Frank "Skip" Spinale (Leanne); his mother, Rosanna Lentini-Duncan (Steve); his maternal grandmother, Marjorie Lentini; his son, Noah Kirby Spinale; his sisters, Deanna Mitchell (Christopher), and Audrey Spinale; his step-sisters, Lauren Moorman, and Dixie Tolbert (James); his nieces and nephews, Mitchell Price, Devin Price, Adara Wegenka, Atticus Wegenka, Alice Tolbert, and Meadow Mitchell; as well as many beloved cousins and extended family members.
Shawn is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Guy Spinale and Patricia Lovely, his maternal grandfather, Vincent Lentini; all his great-grandparents, including his namesake, Harold E. Kirby; and most recently his sister, Shannah Rochelle Spinale; as well as several uncles, and other extended family members.
To know Shawn was to love Shawn. He had a heart overflowing with love for the Lord and was passionate about spreading the word of God to others. Even through all of Shawn's battles, he remained grateful to God for all his blessings. His unwavering commitment to his faith was a testament to his strength, shaped in part by his time and leadership at Adult & Teen Challenge and TCMI. After graduating he even went on to help start a new church in Bakersfield, CA. Because of Shawn's great love for the Lord, his love for his son Noah was endless and unconditional. Shawn was also very passionate about fishing which he excelled at, winning deep sea fishing tournaments and several trophies when he was just a teen. He especially enjoyed catching snapper and tuna with his dad, Uncle Scott, and Uncle Tim. His mantra was, "You're born, you fish, you die, that's it." He also enjoyed hunting, was an avid gamer and was ranked as one of the top players on Call of Duty. He was a relentless prankster, always showcasing his incredible sense of humor. He was unexpectedly kindhearted, especially for his superhuman strength and size. Shawn wholeheartedly loved people and will be terribly missed by everyone who knew him. Again, to know Shawn, was to love Shawn.
A Funeral Service will be held for Shawn at 3:00 pm, on Friday, October 4, at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, with Pastor John Strickland officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Paul Northrop, Brandon Christopher, Robert Highers, Anthony Lentini, John Manning, Nick Lentini, Christopher Mitchell, and Nick Orbann. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to help cover Shawn's final expenses. Donations can be made through GoFundMe at https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-shawn-kirby-spinales-final-journey
