Sheila Land Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory on Oct. 1, 2025.
Sheila Hinson Land, age 71, of Byron, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 9, 2025. Born in Fort Valley, Georgia, Sheila was the daughter of the late Harrell Hinson and the late Anna Joyner Hinson. A dedicated public servant, she retired after a long and faithful career as a mail carrier with the United States Postal Service. Sheila had a strong and vibrant spirit that touched everyone who knew her. She was currently attending Grace Baptist Church and a longtime member of Hardison Baptist Church. Her faith and fellowship were an important part of her life. Sheila lived life to the fullest and was always on the move. She loved staying active-whether it was hitting the gym, playing pickleball, or tending to her yard. She had a great sense of style, a passion for fashion, and an adventurous heart that loved to travel. Above all, she cherished spending time with her family, her beloved cats, and her closest friends-affectionately known as the "YaYa Sisters." Left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Bryan Land (Sara) and Greg Land, both of Byron, GA; three grandchildren, Haley Land, Bryce Wood, and Gage Bryant; her brother, James Hinson (Beverly) of Musella, GA; her sister, Clarice Davis (Larry) of Byron, GA; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family who loved her dearly. A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM, with Pastor Mike Bowden officiating. Sheila will be laid to rest at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Macon, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Gideons International in Sheila's memory. With honor, Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory has been entrusted with the arrangements.
