Shelia Jane Summers, 67, of Charleston, SC, passed away on November 16th, 2024, surrounded by family and her faithful Canine Companion. Born in Jacksonville, NC, the Carolinas were her home for most of her life, from Burlington and Greensboro, NC to Pawleys Island, SC, where she spent as much of that time as she could at the beach, enjoying God's beautiful creations and collecting shells by the handful. She too, loved to create in the form of sewing and crafts. Self-taught, this southpaw mastered many a sewing machine and produced beautiful gifts that will be treasured by their recipients for many years to come. For Shelia, strangers were only a friend she had yet to meet, and her friends were cherished and loved with her whole heart. She would give anything she had to anyone in need and that occasionally included advice that was always honest and never sugar-coated!
Her love of sewing made her an instrument of healing when she began working at Medi USA, creating therapeutic aids for people all over the world and even the equine world as well as making new lifelong friends. As she neared retirement, she moved to Charleston to be closer to her daughter and son in law. She quickly found a new place where she put her love of people and giving to use, working at Goodwill, meeting new people, and sharing in their stories. She also found a home at LifePark Church in Mt. Pleasant, where she attended services regularly and in a final act of generosity, donated her car to a young family in need who were devout members of the church as well. This act epitomizes her life as she was always giving freely and without expectation, as she knew that her rewards would come in heaven.
Shelia is survived by her daughter, Sherry Bond, son in law, Michael Bond, granddaughter, Madison Bond, her brothers, Ed, Paul (Tammy) Vandenboom, brother Donald Inman, sister in law Angie Pifer, brother in law, Jimmie Summers, mother of Michael Bond, Theresa Serna, beloved nieces and nephew, countless friends made throughout her life and her grand-dogs, who faithfully kept watch over her every moment of every day. She was loved by so many and will be eternally missed by all who knew her.
Shelia is preceded in death by her parents, Buster Stallings and Georgia Hansley; brothers, Neal and William Stallings; her sister in law, Deborah Summers; and nephew, Matthew Summers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation at https://fundraise.givesmart.com/vf/PFFTribute/SheliaSummers.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 2:00 PM beachside at the Charleston Harbor Resort 20 Patriot's Point Rd, Mt. Pleasant. The family will receive guests immediately following the service at the Charleston Fish House private room located at 32 Patriot's Point Rd.

Shelia was a precious neighbor. I enjoyed going to visit with her and hearing about her family and especially her daughter and son-in-law. She loved to sew and made crafts that I sold for her at our craft fair. I will miss her and I know she is with our Lord now and free of pain and suffering.
