Shirley Ann Rogers, age 86, passed away Saturday, September 10, 2022, at Woodbury Health and Rehab. She was born on October 21, 1935, in Woodbury, Tennessee to Thomas Hatton and Kinnie Keaton King. She was preceded in death by her loving husband JB Rogers, her siblings AD King, Thomas King, WH King, Dovie King, Mildred Russell, Dewey Gaither, Gladys George, Dorothy Mitchell, and Lovie Rowell. She was the last of the "King Girls", as they were lovingly called.
Shirley was raised by her sister Dorothy "Dot" after her mother's death. Shirley lost Dot, "her best friend', on January 7, 2021, and missed her terribly.
Shirley was lovingly called "MA" and was survived by 5 children: Jesse (Carrie) Rogers of Woodbury, Lynn Rogers of Woodbury, Tammy (David) Gaither of Woodbury, Tina (Danny) Miller of Woodbury, Danny (Lottie) Rogers of Readyville. Grandchildren: Brian (Dionne) Rogers of Washington state, Kevin (Stacie) Dobbs of Gallatin, Brandon Thomas of Dickson, Montana (Emily) Gaither of Bradyville, Hunter Gaither of Woodbury, Brooke (Clay) Quick of Fayetteville, Paige (Justin) Holt of Woodbury, Dylan (Katie) Miller of Woodbury, and Kelsi (Jared) Wheeler of Readyville. Great grandchildren: London Rogers, Jack Rogers, Courtney (Ben) Johnson, Jacob Dobbs, Brantley Lee Thomas, Avalynn Moon Thomas, Emma Gaither, Ellie Gaither, Jace Gaither, Alexis Quick, Cade Quick, Hayes Holt, and Briggs Miller. Two fur babies who visited her regularly: Cooper Rogers and Bella Rogers.
Shirley's first love was God and her family. She loved going to church and was an active member of Burt Baptist Church. She volunteered many hours at Woodbury Health and Rehab over 25 years. She had bingo with snacks, helped in the beauty shop 3 days a week and helped with all big events cutting pies and serving them. Her volunteer days were cut short when Covid shut down visitation to the nursing homes, but she continued to provide snacks and drinks for residents and staff.
Shirley collected items for the Tennessee Children's Home in Franklin during her WMU services at Burt Baptist Church. This year, Burt Baptist will be collecting items in her honor to distribute to the Tennessee Children's Home.
Shirley raised her family before going to public work at the shirt factory, Valdor, and Crane. She worked until she was in her seventies.
A special thank you to Woodbury Health and Rehab Staff for their loving care of MA.
Graveside services will be Friday, September 16, 2022, at 4 pm at Cherry Cemetery. This was her request. Interim Pastor Brother Don McMurry will be officiating, and Brother Larry Sanders will be leading the singing.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Burt Baptist Church, 1087 Burt Rd, Woodbury,TN 37190 for the "Tennessee Baptist Children's Home'.

Danny and Lottie, I am always so heart broken to hear of someone losing a parent. I am very sad for you and the family but she seemed like such an incredible lady. Please know I am thinking of you during this time. Bless you my friends...
