On the morning of Tuesday, September 2, 2025, Shirley A. Sommer passed away peacefully at the age of 82. Born on March 5, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Gus C. Roth and Gladys M. Mitchell Roth.

Shirley was a 1961 graduate of Male High School, and a 1964 graduate of General Hospital School of Nursing, following a year of post secondary education at Catherine Spaulding College. She would go on to dedicate her working to her calling as a registered nurse. In her later years, she would spend her time working as a school crossing guard for LMPD Traffic Division, a position she retired from after several years of service. Shirley was a member of the Women's Auxiliary of the Moose Lodge, Eagles, and the American Legion GI Joe Division. She was a proud supporter of American Soldiers. In her spare time, Shirley was known to love of a good game, especially at a casino. She was also involved with Sand Bugs with Shriners. Above all, she loved her family deeply. She was extremely proud of her large family, and that she got to see it grow to four generations. Shirley's memory is one that her family and friends will carry in their hearts forever.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her three children, Kristal Anspach (Thomas), Robin Webster (Tommy), and Jason Davis. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren, Christina Weixler, Trista Redmon, Bentley Coleman, Camry Coleman, Catera Coleman, Solara Coleman, and Sienna Coleman; as well as four great grandchildren. Jalen Gosling, Evan Weixler, Waylon Critchelow, and Winston Critchelow, and one on the way.

A funeral service will be held 1:00pm Friday, September 5, 2025, at Ratterman & Sons, 3800 Bardstown Road, with entombment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 10:00am to 1:00pm Friday, prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Boys and Girls Haven, 2301 Goldsmith Lane, Louisville, Ky 40218.
