Sonya Rochelle Briddell was born on October 3, 1984, in Salisbury, MD to Cecilia Briddell and Cornelius Carter. Sonya unexpected departed this life on January 8, 2024, at the age of 39 years old.
Sonya graduated in 2002 from Sussex Technical High School where she studied Cosmetology. After graduation she attended Woodstock Job Corps Center in Woodstock, MD and then advanced training in Washington, DC in which she received certifications in Office Occupations and Clerical Services. She was a hard worker and worked various jobs including retail and poultry.
Sonya was a jovial person, good hearted and enjoyed spending time with her family. Sonya loved God and continuously strived to better her life. She had a passion for music and had a beautiful singing voice. Sonya also had a amazing gift for doing hair she would change her own hairstyles all the time with ease.
Sonya was proceeded in death by her maternal grandparents, Mabeline Bratten and Jesse Bratten and paternal grandmother Pastor Linda Dixon.
The precious memories of Sonya will be cherished by her parents, Cecilia Briddell and Cornelius Carter both of Salisbury, MD; two sister, Brittany Ferreras (Jonathan) and Kachaira Briddell both of MD; two niece Kaylina and Jubilee both of MD; four maternal aunts, Waetina Morton (Harold) of Salisbury, MD; Regina Briddell of Philadelphia, PA; Evetta Godwin (George) of Milford, DE; one maternal uncle Jesse Bratten Jr. of Salisbury, MD. Five paternal aunts Irma Predeoux of Ellendale, DE; Eva Flem (Rocky) of Millsboro, DE; Ila Marie Hammond (Allan) of Snow Hill, MD; Zarah Gardner of North Charleston, SC; Carolyn Showell (Michael) of Millsboro, DE; three paternal uncles Willie Hester (Carrie) of Pahokee, FL; Donald Hester of West Royal Palm, FL; and Gary Carter (Virginia) of Englewood, NJ; and a host of loving cousins and friends.
