Sotira Tsilfidis, 97, wife of the late Panagiotis Tsilfidis of Norwalk passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2024 surrounded by family.
She was born in Galani (Tsakirli), Kozani Greece on June 7, 1926 to the late Konstantinos and Chrysana Marmanidis. She immigrated to Norwalk, Connecticut in 1971. She held many factory jobs and retired from Pepperidge Farms in 1986. She was a proud member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church and the Pontian Society Pontos of Norwalk.
With her easy going personality, Sotira made many friends. She was very giving and always looked to help her family. She enjoyed family gatherings and was fortunate enough to watch and raise her great grandchildren until the age of 90.
Sotira is survived by her children; George and his wife Ioanna Tsilfidis, Anatoli and her husband Vasilios Georgiades.
She is also survived by her grandchildren;
Paraskevi and her husband Panagiotis Marmaras, Panagiotis Tsilfidis, Kiriakos and his wife Mila Georgiades, Anastasios and his wife Despina Tsilfidis.
She is also survived by her great grandchildren Theofanis Marmaras, Anatoli Marmaras, Georgios Tsilfidis and Maximus Georgiades.
Sotira is also survived by a niece, Ana Tsilfides Kiriakides, whom she was fortunate enough to raise from age six months old until six years old.
In addition to her husband, Sotira was predeceased by her brother, Georgios Marmanidis and his wife Kiriaki. In addition to three other siblings, which died during the Pontian Genocide between 1914-1922.
Calling hours will be on Monday, June 3, from 5PM to 8PM at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 238 West Rocks Road, Norwalk. Funeral Services will take place on Tuesday at 10AM at St. George Greek Orthodox Church. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery, 223 Richards Avenue, Norwalk.
