Spencer Hardy Obituary
Spencer was born to the late Ernestine (Mayo) and Arthur Hardy in 1940 in Ware, MA moving to Maine soon after. After high school he moved to Connecticut and eventually settled in Bristol. While in Bristol, he worked at Edmunds Manufacturing, retiring in 1997 and moving to Ormond Beach, FL. While in Florida, he was active with golf and loved working the gate at his retirement complex. He returned to Bristol in 2015 and delivered Meals on Wheels to the elderly, and volunteered for the Bristol Blues baseball team. He and his wife enjoyed traveling, swimming every day, and going to casinos. While these activities gave him great pleasure, his greatest satisfaction came from watching all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren grow.
He was predeceased by two daughters; Jamie Hardy and Judy Goddard and a number of grandchildren and is survived by his daughter Linda Fowler and her husband Jim as well as three step-daughters and their spouses: Patricia and John Leahy, Pamela and Paul Carlson, and Melissa Sheldon; two step-sons and their spouses: Larry and Janice McDonnell, and Thomas and Malinda McDonnell; 21 grandchildren; and well over 25 great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Spencer was also predeceased by his brothers Ernest and Bryan and sisters Patricia and Maxine.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday (April 3, 2025) at 11 AM at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol. Burial will follow in St Joseph Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at Funk Funeral Home on Thursday between 10 and 11 AM. The family wishes to thank all the healthcare people who took such good care of him at UConn Heath, Bristol Hospital, and The Pines of Bristol. Special thank you to his Respiratory Therapist Kasia who was his Angel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Julie Larese Bristol Tramps Scholarship Fund, C/O Main Street Community Foundation, PO Box 2702, Bristol, CT 06011-2702.
