Stephen John Couvillon

Stephen John Couvillon, lovingly known as "Big Daddy," entered into eternal rest on January 6, 2025, at the age of 68, after a courageous and brief battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gustave and Eugenia Couvillon, and his beloved daughter, Julie Couvillon.
Steve is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Janice Couvillon; his cherished daughter, Lindsay Minzey (Corey); his granddaughter, Alyssa Couvillon; and his step-granddaughter, Rylee Minzey, whom he loved dearly as his own. He also leaves behind his brother, Mark Couvillon, and his nephews, Brandon, Chris, and Kevin.
Born and raised in New Orleans, Steve graduated from Rummel High School, where he formed lifelong friendships. He later attended the University of New Orleans and spent an incredible 45 years working for Entergy, where he started as a draftsman and grew into a self-taught IT expert. He played a pivotal role in developing the company's renowned outage management map, showcasing his ingenuity and dedication to his work. He was known as the father of AM/FM.
Steve was a man of many talents-a true jack of all trades. Whether it was fixing the unfixable, solving complex problems, or lending a helping hand, Steve's resourcefulness knew no bounds. As a proud Aquarius, he found joy in being near the water, whether he was fishing, enjoying water sports with his family and friends, or cruising in his boat.
Above all, Steve was a family man. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather who treasured every moment spent with those he loved. His warmth extended beyond his family; Steve was a loyal friend who loved bringing people together and lighting up every room with his humor and charisma.
His legacy is one of kindness, generosity, and unconditional love-a legacy that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him. Steve will be deeply missed but forever remembered as a man who lived fully, loved deeply, and made the world brighter for everyone around him.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to visitation on Saturday, January 18, 2025 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, Louisiana 70001; followed by a Catholic Mass at 1:00 p.m.
