Stephen Friesen went to be with the Lord January 21, 2025. He was born February 18, 1945, in Newton, KS, to Clifford and Inez Friesen. They raised him along with a sister, Janice, and a brother, Jerry, in Newton where he graduated from high school. He joined the Navy and served on the U.S.S. Newport News during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1971. He met his loving wife, Margarete, in Newton, and they married in May of 1971. The dear Lord above gave them three children, Laura, Luke, and Helen. Five grandchildren, Ethan, David, Ira, Tikvah, and Eli, were added to the family after Matt Davies married Laura.
He loved his family very much and worked very hard for them. He liked to go to car shows around Kansas and enjoyed driving his pickup. As his health began to fail, he leaned on the Lord and proclaimed many times that the Lord is the Healer and was eager to be home with the Lord.
A private graveside service was held on January 24, 2025. Memorial donations are suggested to McPherson College Auto Restoration Program in care of Stockham Family Funeral Home, 205 North Chestnut, McPherson, KS 67460.
205 N. Chestnut St., McPherson, KS 67460
