Stephen Grant Obituary
Steve was born on June 23, 1956, in Southington and was the only child of the late Alexander and Carol (Bernard) Grant. Raised in Bristol, he graduated from Thomas H. Patterson School, Memorial Boulevard Middle School, and Bristol Eastern High School Class of 1974.
He earned a Bachelor of Arts from Eastern Connecticut State University and received a Master of Science degree from the University of Hartford. Steve devoted 36 years of service to the State of Connecticut Judicial Branch. Steve was committed to making a difference in the lives of struggling families and children. In 2017, Steve retired as the Executive Director of Court Support Services Division.
Steve was well known as an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed bird hunting and fishing with his son, Brayson, and nephew, Mike. Steve spent countless hours hiking in the woods of Litchfield County with Lynn and his golden retrievers. He loved exploring the beaches of Maine with his family while searching for sand dollars. Steve enjoyed being at home by a warm fire watching the Red Sox or Bruins.
In addition to his wife of 40 years, Steve is survived by his son, Brayson Stephen Grant and his partner, Allyson Braciska, his father-in-law Roland Gaudreau of Bristol, sisters-in-law, Diane Kauffman and husband, Stuart Kauffman of Chicago, IL, and Karen Gaudreau and Mike Lipka of Bristol, and dearly loved niece and nephews. In addition to his family, Steve leaves behind many friends and all of those he taught, coached, and mentored.
Relatives and friends may call at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol on Friday (October 3, 2025) between 4 and 7 PM followed by a Service to Remember at 7 PM. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the New Hartford Land Trust, PO Box 272, New Hartford, CT 06057, or to the Sharon Audubon Center, 325 Cornwall Bridge Rd., Sharon, CT 06069.
