Stephen F. Laskowski, 66, of Bethany Beach, Delaware, passed away tragically on Sunday, September 15, 2024. Born on March 21, 1958, in Wilmington, he was the beloved son of the late Frederick and Ellen (Gerres) Laskowski.
Steve attended St. Ann's Grade School and Salesianum School, from which he graduated in 1976. He went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Delaware. His distinguished career in Information Technology spanned over 40 years with DuPont before he retired from the State of Delaware in 2021.
Steve adored his children and was there for everything they needed. He was their sounding board and confidant. Steve was there to navigate life's challenges and the first to celebrate their successes. In his earlier years, Steve took great pleasure in coaching his children's soccer, volleyball and softball teams. Always one to "take the high road," he possessed a kind, generous spirit and was the first to offer a helping hand. Steve never met a stranger and would strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere. A passionate music lover, Steve enjoyed playing the guitar and would jump at the opportunity to get on stage. He loved the beach- frequenting Key West, spending time on his boat, and savoring sunsets. His greatest joy was being "Dziadzi" to his cherished grandchildren.
Steve lived life with exuberance and a playful spirit, always eager to celebrate, throw a party, and bring joy to those around him. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 14 years, Christine Lewis; his children, Jennifer Talley, Lindsay Maiorano (Domenic), Craig Laskowski (Dana), and Eric Laskowski (Amanda); his step-daughters, Jessica Vodzak (Chris) and Mackenzie Marky (Chris); and his grandchildren, Conner and Joshua Talley, Vincent, Adalyn, and Santino Maiorano, and Delaney Vodzak.
He is also survived by his brother, Fred Laskowski (Theresa); his sisters, Patricia Tigani and Rose Wessels (Craig); his brother-in-law, Chip Gallagher; and his nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his sister, Karen Gallagher, and his brother-in-law, Mark Tigani.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek, on Wednesday, September 25, from 4:00 to 7:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Ann's Church, Gilpin Avenue and Union Street, Wilmington, on Thursday, September 26, at 10:30AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to honor Steve's memory by raising a glass and enjoying a beautiful sunset.

To Fred, Patty, and Rose, having grown up across the street from your family, it saddens me to hear of the loss of your brother Steve. Something about neighborhood kids is extra special. I can truly say I understand the hole that is created with the loss of a sibling, and pray that you find the strength to get through these hardest of times.

I have known Steve for about 30 years. I've been his barber/ stylist and consider him a valued friend and just plain great person. Truly breaks my heart to learn this. So sincerely sorry.
