Stephen McGinnis

Stephen Paul McGinnis, 71, of Wakefield, MA, passed away on August 20, 2025, at the Lahey Hospital. The son of the late Paul and Olive (Amerena) McGinnis, he was born on November 30, 1953, in Medford, MA, and had been a lifelong area resident. He was a graduate of the Medford school system and Nichols College. A few years later he chose a home in Tewksbury, MA to raise his family where he had the best years of his life coaching and attending his children's sporting events and enjoying quiet evenings on the deck overlooking the yard he was so proud of. Stephen was a senior program analyst at Putnam Investments during this time and found a second career in sales at Jordans Furniture in Reading, MA until his retirement. He was an avid fan of all Boston sports teams which he would literally wear on his sleeve and was unwavering when it came to his love and loyalty to his family. Stephen is survived by his three sons; Michael McGinnis and his wife Jill of Tewksbury, MA, Matthew McGinnis and his wife Emily of Andover, MA, and Stephen McGinnis Jr. and his wife Michelle of Raymond, NH, his two brothers; Mark McGinnis and his wife Karen of Londonderry, NH, and Dean McGinnis of Medford, MA. He is also survived by his beloved Aunt Mary of Medford, MA and his former wife, Michele McGinnis of Revere, MA. One of his greatest joys was being Papa to his six grandchildren: Rose, Norah, Alexandria, Scarlette, Charlotte, and Myla.

Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday from 9:00 am to 10:30 am at the Beals, Geake, Magliozzi Funeral Home 29 Governors Ave, Medford, MA. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday August 28 11:00 am at St. Raphael Church in Medford. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.
