Steven "Porky" Wayne Park, 74, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2024, at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 20, 1950, in Oklahoma City to Thomas Calvin Park and Clara Kathleen Burge (Ott), Steve was one of eight brothers, growing up in a large family of rowdy boys. While he never experienced having sisters, he was blessed with three beloved daughters: Christy, Tyra, and Kendra.
A proud graduate of Capitol Hill High School, Class of 1968, Steve excelled both on and off the field as the starting quarterback and a standout student with a talent for math. He was also crowned the 9th grade Homecoming King and loved to share stories about his time in home economics, where he impressed everyone with his cooking skills.
After high school, Steve served two years in the Air National Guard. He worked on the Boeing E-3 Sentry Awacs radar domes at Tinker Air Force Base. He later worked at Wilson Foods, where he earned his affectionate nickname "Porky" after saving a blue-eyed pig from a loading chute. In 1978, Steve began a long, dedicated career with the Oklahoma City Fire Department, serving on the Green Shift. Known for his outstanding cooking, Steve liked to joke that his meals moved him closer to the Fire Chief at Station 7. At the same time, he launched and successfully operated Western Plumbing Heating and Air, balancing both his roles with tireless dedication. Even after retiring from the Fire Department in 2006, Steve continued running his business, embodying his work ethic and passion throughout his life.
In his free time, Steve cherished moments spent at Buncombe Creek on Lake Texoma, where he created lasting memories with family and friends. He will be remembered for his warmth, humor, and unwavering love.
Steve is survived by his three daughters: Christina Park (Melissa) of Wellston; Tyra Johnson (James) of Moore; and Kendra Stillwell of Wellston. He was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren: Greyson, Kadence, Cooper, Halle, Breckyn, Boston, and Taylin. He also leaves behind his brothers: John Park (JoLynn), Mark Park (Sandy), Kevin Burge, Greg Park (Lori), David Park (Cyndee), and Chris Park (Christy); his loving Aunt Cyra; and many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins and his Firefighter family who all loved him dearly.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Tommy Park and Kathleen Burge; stepfather, Hicks Burge; brother, Shane Burge; and nephew, Brad Park.
Steve's legacy of hard work, love, and kindness will forever live on in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to know him. He will be deeply missed.

Good man. Honor to have worked with him and to have known him. Man of many talents and good at all of them. Typical Firefighter multi-talented, like his brothers. Sorry for your loss.

I think the mid 80s at station 16 on a New Year´s Eve. Porky me and rosebud went outside to reset the heater which is on the roof. Very icy, Rose stabbed the ground ladder thru his boot Steve an I laughed so much we slipped and fell on the ice.. then on top of that we were locked out. GOOD days.

Clock weekends were great. Steve was a member of the Clock Weekend Crew. Every year a few firefighters got together when you set the clocks back for daylight savings time. Great stories, a few beers great food and amazing camaraderie. You will be missed brother.
