Steve Matthew Warner

Steve M. Warner, 54, of Sylvania, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 30, 1970 in Toledo, Steve was the beloved son of James "Joe" and Marilyn (Burk) Warner of Whitehouse, Ohio.

A proud graduate of Anthony Wayne High School, Class of 1989, Steve was a member of the basketball team and earned MVP of the golf team. Steve went on to Owens Community College before building a dedicated career at the Chrysler Dundee Engine Plant, where he worked proudly as a team leader for 15 years.

On September 15, 2001, Steve married the love of his life, Joann Lustic. Together, they built a life centered on love, laughter, and unwavering support for one another.

Steve's favorite hobby was spending time with his family. He was home every night and spent no more than several nights total away from Joann and their kids in the 28 years that they were together. He always looked forward to movie night with his family, cozied up in the family room while enjoying a coke and a pepperoni pizza.

Steve was a devoted Ohio State football fan and cherished the time he spent outdoors, especially on the golf course or fishing. He was very proud of his best golf score of 64. His passions were simple but deep, and he shared them generously with those around him.

Above all, Steve will be remembered for his selflessness and kind heart. Always first to lend a hand, he put others before himself and made everyone feel welcome with his kind eyes and winning smile that he gave willingly. His kindness was proven in his last act by his donation of tissue and organs to many strangers. His unwavering compassion for animals was shown towards the many strays that he helped care for and rehome in his neighborhood.

Family and friends were the cornerstone of his life, and his love and loyalty to them was boundless. Steve's presence in the lives of those who knew him was a true gift. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

Along with his beloved wife Joann and parents Joe and Marilyn, Steve is survived by his children Kaitlin and Jackson Warner of Sylvania, Ohio, brother Mike (Maggie) Warner of Maumee, Ohio, mother-in-law Gloria Lustic of Toledo, Ohio, sisters-in-law Roseann Lustic of Toledo, Ohio, and Kristine (Doug) Donnelly of Toledo, Ohio, many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, all of his close gang of friends that he viewed as his family, his cherished pets, dogs Kirby, Rosie, and his 7 kitties Piper, Snowball, Fuzz, Junior, Penelope, Chip and Ollie. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Jim and Jean Warner, Rodney and Catherine Burk, Step-Grandmother, Ruth (Matson) Burk, and Cousin Rachel East.

A visitation will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Reeb Funeral Home located at 5712 Main Street in Sylvania, Ohio. An additional visitation period will be 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2025 with funeral services following at 11:00 a.m. Internment will take place immediately following at Toledo Memorial Park, 6382 Monroe Street, Sylvania, Ohio.

The family asks that any memorial contributions be donated to Steve's children.
