Steven Claus Bergman, 71, of Mason City passed away on Monday, April 10, 2023. He was born on June 23, 1951 in Lincoln to Robert and Mardelle (Adkins) Bergman. On August 25, 1973 in Greenview he married Eleanor McAtee.
Steve is survived by his mother, his wife and 3 sons: Thomas Bradley (Trisha) Bergman of Mason City, Doug (Clare) Bergman of Chicago, Scott (Elizabeth) Bergman of St. Louis, 4 grandchildren: Bennett, Brode, Griffin, Gabrielle and his sister Faye (Robert) Yetton. He was preceded in death by his father and his brother Thomas.
Steve was a 1969 graduate of Mason City High school and a 1973 graduate of University of Illinois where he was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho. Upon graduation, Steve worked at Farmers Grain & Coal before deciding to farm full time in 1978. He was a member of the Mason City United Methodist Church, past president of Farmer's Grain and Coal of Mason City and past trustee of the Mason City Fire District. He loved attending all his grandchildren's sporting events, enjoyed gardening, restoring old tractors, model trains, raising and selling market cattle, Cubs baseball and all Illinois sports.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 14, 2023 at 10:30 AM at the Mason City United Methodist Church with Pastor Molly Spence-Hawk officiating, burial to follow at Mason City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mason City United Methodist Church. Online condolences can be left at www.hurleyfh.com. Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City is in charge of the arrangements.

Eleanor and family, so saddened to learn of Steve's passing. Sending condolences and prayers to all of you.
He was a fine man and great farmer. He will be missed by many.
