Steven Andrew Drakos passed away peacefully from this life into the loving arms of our Lord on June 14th, 2024 at the age of 62, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Steven was born on June 9th, 1962 in Pontiac, Michigan. He was the oldest son of two Greek immigrants, Andrew and Joanna Drakos. At an early age, Steven moved to Lake Orion and attended Lake Orion High School. Following high school, he attended Oakland University and majored in political science. Always carrying a passion for knowledge, Steven graduated from Detroit College of Law and earned his Juris Doctor.
As a defense attorney, Steven practiced law with the unrelenting drive to help his clients and make a lasting impact on their lives in the face of adversity. Steven was well respected by his peers and the judges he worked with. Steven was a dear friend to many in the community and the profession. In addition, Steven was also deeply involved in the Oakland County community. He served as a longtime member of the Lake Orion and Oxford Community Schools school board, president of the Boys and Girls Club, president of the parish council of St. George Greek Orthodox Church of Bloomfield Hills, and was a steadfast member of the Lake Orion Lions Club.
Steven married his wife Teresa in October 2001, and together they raised their twin boys, Andrew and Michael in Lake Orion. The pride that he exhibited toward his children will never fade. A friend to all, Steven was also passionate about his Greek heritage, history, education, and helping others. As an avid reader, Steven was likely to gift a thoughtful book after an encounter or talk with him.
Steven is survived by his loving wife Teresa; sons, Andrew and Michael; parents, Andrew and Joanna Drakos; Sisters, Katherine Demopulos (Greg) and Christina Drakos; and many loving nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins, and friends who are considered family.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, please consider donating in Steven's honor to support his children in their future educational pursuits. Education was a pillar in Steven's life and will ensure that his legacy lives on through Andrew and Michael. Steve was one of the best and kindest people I ever met. The world is a sadder place without his warm smile and his always gentle demeanor. I will miss Steve terribly.
