Steven Herman Eichmeier passed away January 1, 2025. He was born December 14, 1941 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Herman George Eichmeier and Amelia Pixton Eichmeier. Steven's growing up years were spent on the family potato farm learning the valuable skills of hard work, dependability and love of growing things. All of these characteristics he taught by example to all of his children. His education after high school graduation included receiving an Associates Degree from Ricks College, Bachelors and Masters degrees from Utah State University and a Doctorate of Education from Brigham Young University.
Steven married Ruth Flamm on June 4, 1965 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They were blessed with five children, Scott, Chantell, Stephani, Brian and Brandon.
Steven has been active in the LDS Church all of his life serving a two and a half year mission to Southern Brazil, teaching Sunday school, ward clerk, Young Mens president, scoutmaster, Bishop, on the High counsel (twice), 2nd Counselor in the Stake Presidency, service missionary in inner city of Ogden, home teacher, and teacher in the High Priest Quorum. He served in the local community in many capacities: President and program chair of the Mt. Ogden Rotary club, various positions in Junior Achievement, served on the Board of Directors for the Applied Technology College. He was also on the Advisory Board for the Boy Scouts of America, Trapper Trails Counsel, B.S.A. District Chairman, Relations Committee Chair and many other B.S.A. positions. Steven received the Silver Beaver Award for outstanding service to scouting, as well as the National Dean Herman Schneider award for his contributions to cooperative Education on the national, state and local levels plus other recognitions.
Professionally Steven has been a professor in the Professional Sales Department (which he started when he was hired by Weber State in 1968, originally known as the Cooperative Education Program). He served for 52 years at Weber State during which time he was also the Director of the Career Center for a time before returning to the classroom which was his most desired position. During the 52 years he spent at Weber State he impacted the lives of many students. His motto was that the reason he was there was for the students. When he retired in 2020 what he missed most was the contact with the students.
Steven loved the outdoors, being involved in boating, fishing, hunting and growing a vegetable garden which he loved to share with family and neighbors. He was happiest when he was doing activities with his children and grandchildren, great grandchildren and spending the last 60 years with Ruth traveling, spending time together and serving together in their church.
Steven is survived by his wife, Ruth, children Scott S. Eichmeier (Leisa), Chantell Lyman (Kent), Stephani Scott (Chris), Brian R. Eichmeier, Brandon H. Eichmeier (Candace), sister Dixie Gapp (Gary), 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, with one on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant great-grandson Chase Tate Bunderson, and sister Gloria Ann Earl.
