Steven Hitchler

In memory and celebration of someone who made this world a better and brighter place.
With great sadness, we announce the passing of Steven Hitchler. His love of life, his love of family, and his unwavering support for those who needed his help will always be remembered. Steve's vibrant spirit and deep love for his family and friends brought warmth and joy to everyone who knew him. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving wife, nee Stacia Bedford, along with family and friends on August 6, 2024, at his home in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Many loved his caring, humble spirit, and he will be missed. Steve is survived by his wife, Stacia, daughter and son-in-law Madelyn and Hayden Johnson, granddaughters Abigail and Athena, sister Mary Bailey, and brothers Michael Hitchler, Leon Hitchler, and Gregory Hitchler, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard Hitchler and Phyllis Hitchler Millette, and brothers Kendall Hitchler and Nathan Hitchler.
Steve's passions and talents were many and varied, and he could do anything. He never put his mind and hands to a project or task he did not complete with joy and enthusiasm, humming and singing the whole time. His great love of music and surrounding himself in song was a trademark of Steve. He was a good man with a gentle heart full of love and compassion. He was a beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather (Pops), uncle, cousin and son.
A mass will be held in his honor at Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 1404 Pacific Ave, Virginia Beach, VA 23451, at 11:00 a.m. on August 30, 2024. This will be a celebration of Steven's life, a time to remember the joy he brought to us all. All are welcome to attend this celebration and a reception in Crawford Hall immediately after Mass. The family will have a private gathering following.
