Steven "Steve" W Krause, 65, of Spokane, WA, passed away on December 15, 2024, in his
home.
Steve was born on February 17, 1959 in Columbus, OH, the son of Don and Lois "Rusty"
Krause, née Williams.
Remaining to cherish Steve's memory are his daughter Jacque Koonce (Tony), son Steven
Krause (Ashley), and daughter Mindy Tuttle (Adele), 13 grandchildren; his father Donald
Krause; brothers David and Robert Krause
Steve graduated from Minot High, Magic City Campus, in 1977 and joined the United States Air
Force in April of 1981. He was stationed at Keesler Air Force base in Biloxi, MS until honorably
discharged in 1990. At that time, Steve and his family relocated to Spokane, WA to be closer to
family.
Steve was recently attending the Church of Christ Deer Park. Prior to that he was a member of
Sunrise Church of Christ in Spokane for 20+ years. He was known for faithfully attending weekly
bible studies and rarely missed church service.
Steve had a compassionate heart often donating to charities such as the American Cancer
Society, Cure for Cystic Fibrosis, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, Shriner's Hospital
and the ASPCA.
Steve had a passion for astronomy. He was a long time member of the Spokane Astronomical
Society and took pride in bringing his telescope out to local schools to help foster a love of
astronomy in children.
Steve regularly served during local events such as Bloomsday and the Lilac Festival assisting
with emergency radio communication. Amateur radio was a favorite pastime. His fellow ham
radio operators knew him by his call sign, KG5AO. A common way to end a conversation on
ham radio is to say 73, meaning best regards.
With that being said, 73 KG5AO.
