Steven Krauth Obituary
Steven R. Krauth, age 71, passed away suddenly on Monday, February 17, 2025. Born on February 18, 1953, he was the cherished son of the late Carol J. (nee Sheer) and Raymond S. Krauth.
Steve will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 43 wonderful years, Karen L. Krauth, and his children, Jason, Jennifer (Brad), Lindsey (Justin), and Kevin. He was the proud and devoted grandfather of Peyton, Kayci, and Lucas. He is also survived by his brothers, William (Liz) and Rich (Trayce); along with many extended family members; and lifelong friends, Arline and Chuck, and Jennie.
Steve shared a special and unbreakable bond with his late in-laws, Arline and Chuck Kiehl, who welcomed him into their family with open arms and hearts. Their love and connection were truly unmatched, and they shared countless memories and laughter through the years.
Among those who held Steve close to their heart was Jennie Bochar, a dear family friend who saw him as a son. Together, they shared an endless back-and-forth of jokes, playful banter, and a deep friendship.
Steve's love for Karen was unwavering. They were not just husband and wife but best friends, partners in adventure, and the foundation of a family filled with warmth, humor, and devotion. Their life together was a testament to love, full of playful teasing, laughter, and support.
His greatest joy in life was his children and grandchildren. Steve was their biggest cheerleader, following them to every game, rain or shine, never missing a moment. If you looked closely, you might have even caught him sneaking in a nap behind the plate at Peyton's baseball games-but he was always there, always present. One of his most cherished traditions was breakfast at Tony's Family Restaurant with Peyton-their special spot, their routine. On rare and special occasions, Grandma was even invited to join, making the mornings even more meaningful.
Family adventures were where Steve truly thrived-whether it was soaking in the sun at Pawley's Island, climbing the dunes in Michigan, or simply spending time together on the shores of Crystal Lake. These were the memories that defined him, moments filled with laughter, love, and the simple joys of being with family.
Steve was known for his love for fixing (and breaking) things, naps at family gatherings, quick wit, unforgettable one-liners, and ability to bring a smile to any face. He had an effortless way of making those around him laugh, leaving behind a legacy of joy and humor that will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
He also had a deep love for animals, which made his 30+ year career as a Mechanic at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo especially meaningful. His love for wildlife extended to the family dogs and grand-dogs-Sophia, Boo, Tatler, Holtby, Gambit, and the late Kelsey, Rusty and Rizzo-who were his buddies and constant companions.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Steve's memory to the Cleveland Metroparks.
A private family gathering will take place.
A celebration of his life will be held in his honor on Friday, February 28th, at the Schnitz Ale Brewery at 4:30pm, with his favorite foods and drinks-a time to share stories, laughter, and memories in the way he would have wanted. All are welcome, and more details will be shared by the family in the coming days.
