Steven Lee Morrisett was born on August 16, 1941 in Midland, TX to O.L. and Mary Helen (Boutwell) Morrisett. He passed away on October 3, 2025 at Cox Hospital in Springfield, MO. There will be a visitation at Whitt Funeral Home on Friday, October 10th from 5-7pm. A graveside service with military honors will be at 10:30 am on October 11, 2025 at the Duncan Municipal Cemetery.
Steve was baptized and began his walk with the Lord at Westside Church of Christ, which met at 14th and Main and is now the Chisholm Trail Church of Christ.
He went to Emerson Grade School and graduated from Duncan High School in 1959. He graduated from Texas Tech in 1965 with a Bachelor's Degree in Architecture and Math. He received a Master's Degree in Information and Computer Science from Georgia Tech in 1976. He also studied New Testament at Abilene Christian University.
Steve spent two years in the army attaining the rank of Captain. He was in Vietnam from 1966 to 1967. He was a platoon leader for the 14th Engineer Battalion doing road repair and bridge construction. He also served as the Cost Accounting Officer for the 35th Engineer Group. Steve was one of the men who preached for the military Church of Christ at Cam Ranh Bay.
He worked for several years for the home builder, Fox and Jacobs, in Dallas. He worked for a number of years in Information Technology, including four years as a professor at Southern Tech in Atlanta, GA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, OL and Mary Helen (Boutwell) Morrisett, his grandparents: Oda Lee and Grace (Moffitt) Morrisett and Poly Bonaparte and Lilly (Garner) Boutwell, two brothers: David Gary age 2 and Philip Alan age 38, five aunts: Thelma, Myrtle, Rose, Vernice "Bud" and Nita and five uncles: Don, Ernest, Bonnie Robert, Ed, John Ivy and R.T. and his little dogs: Boots and Bubbles.
He is survived by two nephews and spouses: Brad and Holly Morrisett of Edmond, OK and Lance and Jennifer Morrisett of Artesia, NM, one niece and spouse: Melissa and Greg Bukovatz of Springfield, MO; great nephews and spouses: Ross and Carli Morrisett of Edmond, OK, Cullen and Shanery Morrisett of Lubbock, TX; great nephews: Keegan, Kaelen and Kendrick Bukovatz of Springfield, MO, Kaden, Lane and Bennett Morrisett of Artesia, NM; great nieces: Emily Morrisett of Edmond, OK and Emma Morrisett of Artesia, NM; and three great-great nieces: Ava, Gemma and Piper Morrisett of Edmond, OK; and special long- time friends: Russ and Sharon Kemp and Debra Puette all of Atlanta, GA.
