Obituary of Steven R. Turner
Steven R. Turner "Baker" passed away on September 4th, 2024 at his home in Greenville, NY. Born on December 23rd, 1954 in Port Jervis, NY, he was 69.
Steven graduated from Port Jervis High School, where he was an All-American Football player. He went on to attend Orange County Community College where he earned an Associates' Degree in Criminal Law.
Steve spent 40 years in New York Correctional Service, 20 years with the Deerpark Police Department, and he also worked in masonry. He was a member of the Maghogomock Hook and Ladder Company for 50 years.
He was an avid fisherman who loved to take his family and teach them how to fish. Steve loved working around the house making the yard look amazing and loved cutting firewood to keep his home warm in the winter. He took great pride in all he did.
Steven is predeceased by his parents, Mildred and Richard Turner.
Survived by his partner of 15 years, Patricia; son Jason Turner (Amy); stepchildren Hillary Elizabeth (Joel), Brian, Dennis, and Michael Balch, and Rachel McAlpine (Keith). Grandfather of Lexi, Mason, and Madysn. Dear brother of Janey Beck Turner and Susan Turner. In addition, Steven is survived by Jeanie Turner of Port Jervis, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 from 1:00-3:00pm and 5:00-7:00pm at Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 East Main Street, Port Jervis, NY, with the Funeral Service held at 6:30pm.
Final Committal will be private and at the convenience of the family.
