It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Susan Abel, who left us on March 12, 2025, at her home. She was 55.
A dedicated scholar, Susan earned a dual degree in History and Journalism, which fueled her lifelong love for learning and storytelling. She was a gifted writer, often crafting beautiful poetry and journal entries that captured the depths of her thoughts and emotions.
Beyond her academic and creative pursuits, Susan had an immense love for animals. She opened her heart and home to many rescued animals over the years, adopting numerous pets who were fortunate to have her care and devotion. Her compassion extended beyond her own home as she volunteered at her local animal shelter, always working to improve the lives of animals in need.
Susan was also a devoted and loving mother of three children, who were the center of her world. Her children will forever cherish the love she gave and the unwavering support she provided throughout their lives. Her legacy as a mother will live on through them, and they will continue to honor her memory with every step they take.
Susan is survived by her daughter Ella Barlick and her fiancé Luke Wendling of Lafayette Hill, as well as her two sons, Riley Abel and Brody Abel both of Philadelphia, her sister Cathy Cranfield of England and her partner Vince Garrity of Harleysville. She is preceded in death by her father John MacGregor and mother Mary Adams MacGregor both of England.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 from 10:00 am until a time of sharing, 11:00am in the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 East Butler Ave. (at Sandy Ridge Rd.)
New Britain, PA 18914. Her interment will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Pennsylvania SPCA, https://www.facebook.com/PennsylvaniaSPCA, in her honor, as a testament to her kind spirit and love for animals.
