Susan passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at her home at the age of 92. The daughter of the late Russell and Eloise (Allmendinger) Schafer was born August 27, 1931 in Sterling, Michigan. Susan was a dedicated member of the Pinconning United Methodist Church where she served as the organist, pianist and choir director for more than 50 years. Susan was a devoted wife who enjoyed traveling, music, singing, and playing numerous instruments, including the accordion and harpsichord.
Susan is survived by her husband, Colen LaFave; three children, Dr. Laura LaFave, Roger LaFave, Russell LaFave and one granddaughter, Lori (Ryan) Clarey. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Richard Schafer and grandson, Jarred LaFave.
Funeral and Committal service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at the Pinconning United Methodist Church with interment following in the Pinconning Township Cemetery. Visitation will take place at the church on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Pinconning United Methodist Church or the Salvation Army.
