South Windsor – Suzanne L. Glaude, 68, formerly of Moosup, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, April 9, 2025, in Hartford Hospital, surrounded by family. She was the daughter of the late Lionel and Ruth (Carpenter) Glaude.
Suzanne grew up in Moosup and attended All Hallows School. She is a 1975 graduate of Plainfield High School and earned an associates degree at Bryant College.
After college, Suzanne went to work at Aetna in Hartford, becoming a Senior Program Analyst.
In her early twenties, Suzanne was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis, a diagnosis that would influence the course of the rest of her life.
After more than twenty years with Aetna Suzanne retired. She received training and became a practitioner of the Japanese healing technique of Reiki and for a brief time owned and operated a treatment business in Wethersfield. She became interested in holistic and naturopathic approaches to treating illness and pain management. Next door to her business was Village Chiropractic where she would eventually go to work for the next 24 years, right up until the Friday before her passing, doing office work and assisting with patient care. The family is grateful to Dr. Joe at Village Chiropractic for his friendship, care and advice to Sue and many other family members over the years.
Suzanne enjoyed quilting and sewing, a love she got from her mom. She loved animals and especially her pets.
She loved family get-togethers, especially when nieces and nephews and their growing families were there. Every year she hosted a large Christmas Eve gathering in her home.
She enjoyed playing cards, doing jigsaw puzzles and any kind of activity that kept her brain sharp.
Though the arthritis was with her for the entirety of her adult life she never once complained. It was not in her nature to bother anyone with what was ailing her. Her nature was to provide others with care and nurturing, easing their pain. She will be remembered for her kindness and gentle touch and especially for the dedication and loving care of her mother in her final years.
Said one brother, "Suzanne was my rock, she kept me grounded. Always there to listen, without judgement. Her support was unwavering whether she agreed with me or not", a sentiment shared by all of her brothers.
Suzanne is survived by her brothers, Joseph and wife Eileen of Newton, NJ, Lionel and wife Michele of Putnam, CT, Paul and wife Lucy of Brownington, VT, Mark and wife Kathryn of Ashford, CT, Stephen and wife Kimberly of Dudley, MA, aunts and many nieces and nephews.
