Suzanne Elizabeth Lyon, 92, of Port Huron, passed away peacefully at her home in Port Huron on June 21, 2025. She was born on April 21, 1933, in Armada, Michigan, to the late Blake and Grace (McVicar) Asquith.
She married Thomas R. Lyon on June 18, 1955, in St. Clair, Michigan. He preceded her in death on December 27, 2020.
Suzanne grew up in Detroit, where she attended Southeastern High School class of 1951. She continued her education at Port Huron Junior College where she graduated with an Associate's degree in Science. Suzanne's dedication to her community was evident through her 21 years of committed work at the St. Clair County Health Department, where she touched the lives of many with her kindness and professionalism up until her retirement in 1998.
She was a long-standing member of the First Congregational Church in Port Huron. She had a keen eye for photography, capturing the beauty of the world around her through her lens, recording the many life events of her family. Her curiosity and adaptability were evident in her enthusiasm for computers, a hobby that kept her connected with friends and family. Suzanne also found great pleasure in playing cards, a pastime that brought laughter and camaraderie into her life.
Suzanne is survived by her son, David (Laura) Lyon; daughter, Carrie Day; grandsons, Matthew (Caleb Willette) Wissing and Alexander Day; granddaughter, Molly Kimmel; and Suzanne's new companion dog, Charlie.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Lyon; daughter, Leslie Wissing, son-in-law, Joseph Wissing; and beloved dog, Lew.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Memorial - Smith Chapel, 1525 Hancock Street, Port Huron, Michigan 48060, with visiting at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Phil Whetstone will officiate. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Port Huron.
Memorials are suggested to the Blue Water Area Humane Society, an organization that was very near and dear to her heart.
