“Our beautiful mom, Suzanne Helene Junkin Shidel, passed away on September 22, 2024 while surrounded by family.

She was born on September 18, 1964 in Mercer, Pennsylvania and is the daughter of William Michael Junkin and Helen Theresa Severine Junkin.

Suzanne was a graduate of Mercer High School. She went on to complete cosmetology school in Jackson, TN and worked as a hair stylist at Fantastic Sam’s. Later, she worked at The University of Florida in Gainesville while also taking classes. She then continued her education and worked at Westminster College in New Wilmington PA. In 2017, she completed her remaining classes at Aultman College in North Canton, OH where she earned her Medical Coding Certificate.

Suzanne had a heart of gold. She was always incredibly kind and brought a joy that was so bright to everyone around her. More than anything, she cherished her three daughters. She lived a life devoted to showing her daughters such a deep sense of love and was a role model that was so wonderful that it’s hard to come by. While working at Kent State University, the students would say they felt that same love. She always made it her mission to show a loving kindness to every student she came in contact with and made sure to keep up with all of the excitements, the good, and the bad that was going on in each of their lives. She truly was such a light in this world. We are sure that her light is still so present in this world through her daughters and through the people she impacted.

Suzanne made music such a big part of her life. She had a natural talent for the guitar and would always whip out an upbeat tune so effortlessly for everyone around her to enjoy. She loved spending time with her daughters and having a good laugh, whether that was while at breakfast every Saturday morning or while going for a walk together. She loved spending time in the kitchen baking or showing her daughters how to make something wonderful in the crockpot. Suzanne also loved to make homemade candles and homemade soaps to fill the house with or give to other people as a just because. Everything she did was done with so much love, and there was never a dull moment with her.

The example she set for her children, family, and all those she came in contact with will be a lasting testament to what love, goodness, honesty and real concern for others looks like. She will be so dearly missed and remembered for the joy and ever present smile she left in our hearts.

Suzanne is survived by her three daughters Shelby Helena, Abby Marie, Emily Anna, her sister Mary Joanne (Peter) Blaha, her brother Richard Michael (Glennie) Junkin, and her father William Michael Junkin.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Helen Theresa Severine Junkin.

A private Celebration of Life was held in honor of her with close family and friends. Condolences and special memories of Suzanne can be shared with her family online at www.heritagecremationsociety.com
