Catahoula - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, August 19, 2024, at St. Rita Catholic Church for Sylvia Theriot Borel, 85, who passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2024.
A visitation will take place at the Dion Church Hall in Catahoula on Monday, August 19, 2024, from 7:30 AM to 1:30 PM.
A rosary will be prayed at 1:00 PM on Monday.
Rev. Bill Melancon will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Entombment will follow at Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery.
Sylvia was a beloved member of the community. Her dedication to her family and her work as a waitress at Landry's Seafood Restaurant for 26 years brought joy and comfort to all who crossed her path.
She was an active member of the Ladies Altar Society at St. Rita's Catholic Church, where she found love in serving her community. Sylvia loved playing Pokeno with her friends, exploring new destinations, and preparing meals for people in her community, which brought her much joy. Sylvia's warmth, kindness, and unconditional love will forever be missed and remembered by all who were fortunate enough to have known her.
She is survived by her sons, Dean (Cathy) Borel, Ed Borel, and Frank Borel; 9 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; brothers, Jackie (Sue) Theriot, Dudley (Anna) Theriot, David (Annie) Theriot, and Howard (Jonell) Theriot; and her sister, Maria "Sis" Bonin.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Sylvian and Angela Blanchard Theriot; husband, Perry Borel; daughter, Janice Debnam; grandson, Brad Debnam; brothers, Clifton Theriot and Patrick Theriot; and her sister, Gloria Blanchard.
