Sylvia Woolwine Herring, 68, of Vidor, died Saturday, August 20, 2022.
Mrs. Herring was born February 6, 1954, in Laurel, Mississippi, to Vallie Bellow Woolwine and Woody Woolwine, Sr. She grew up in Vidor, TX and was a graduate of Vidor High School. For many years, she worked as a bookkeeper for Waldman, Smallwood & Grossman Law Firm where she was not only an invaluable asset to their team but a cherished friend to Mr. Waldman, Mr. Smallwood, Mr. Grossman, and their families. She co-owned and operated Vidor s Merle Norman cosmetics with her sister Diane for over 25 years, where she had many wonderful clients who became close friends. She went on to spend her later years working alongside her husband Terry in their commercial flooring business, Custom Flooring.
Sylvia was a devoted wife and mother, a loving sister, a caring Nana, and a generous friend to everyone in need. She dedicated her life to being a Christlike example, selflessly spending all her days making sure that each person in her life was provided for and knew that they were loved by her. She was the first to help celebrate her loved ones accomplishments, the first at a bedside when someone fell ill, the first with a hot plate of food for anyone in need. She remembered the little things- never forgetting a birthdate or anniversary, always being present for important moments or sending a heartfelt card or gift when appropriate. She was an incredible person, a true lady who exuded beauty, grace, and kindness everywhere she went. She will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
She is survived by her husband, Terry Herring, Sr., of Vidor; daughter, Callie Herring and her husband, Randall Lavergne, of Vidor; son, Todd Herring of LaBelle; brothers, Carroll Woolwine of Beaumont; Wayne Woolwine and his wife, Wilma, of Collins, Mississippi; Woody Woolwine, Jr., and his wife, Gaynell, of Sanford Mississippi; Jerry Woolwine of Semmes, Alabama; Roger Woolwine of Corpus Christi; sisters, Jeanette Willett of Vidor; Diane Buoy and her husband, Mike, of Magnolia; Brenda Cantella of Beaumont; Kay Holloway and her husband, Perry, of Brookeland; Roxanne Jenkins and her husband, Steve, of Lumberton; sister-in-law, Debbie Herring of Belzoni, Mississippi; grandchildren, Katherine Lavergne, Thomas Lavergne, Daniel Rubero, Christina Rubero, Lyndsey Rubero, Briana Herring, Stephen Herring, Haleigh Herring, Tyler Herring, and Chelsea Herring; fourteen great-grandchildren; a host of very special cousins, nieces, and nephews; and her church family at Grace Baptist Church in Vidor.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Woody and Vallie Woolwine, her brother Earl Bud Woolwine, Sr., her son Terry Wayne Herring, Jr., and her daughter Toni Rubero.
