Sylvia Ruth Johnson passed from this life on June 2, 2025, in Norman, Oklahoma. She was born on September 29, 1936, in Morse, Louisiana, to Alice and Rufus Faulk. Sylvia grew up in Oklahoma City and attended school at Capitol Hill. She married Billy Johnson in 1957, and together they made their home in Mustang for 14 years before later moving to Lexington and eventually settling in Norman. She attended the local Catholic church.
Sylvia worked as a librarian at Lexington Elementary and later at Joseph Harp Correctional Center in Lexington. She loved bowling, square dancing, playing cards, spending time at the lake, cooking, and raising her family. Sylvia was known for being deeply involved in her children's school activities – so much so that her kids knew better than to try skipping school or causing mischief: because she would always find out. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Alice Faulk; father, Rufus Faulk; brothers Rudy, Bobby, and Rufus Faulk; sisters Gloria Collins, Eva Stivers, and Audrey Longo; and daughter, Sabrina Johnson.
She is survived by her loving husband, Billy Johnson; Sons: Dan Johnson and wife Carla, and Billy Johnson and wife Jami; Daughter: Erin Jenkins;
Grandchildren: -Jessica Crain and Jeffrey Johnson, children of Dan Johnson; -Preston Jenkins and Grayson Jenkins, sons of Erin Jenkins;
Great-grandchildren: -Jackson Crain and Ryker Crain, sons of Jessica Crain; -Eli Johnson, son of Jeffrey Johnson and his wife Edith
She is also survived by many other loving relatives and dear friends. Sylvia's love for her family, sharp wit, and community spirit will be fondly remembered and dearly missed.
