SYLVIA RUSSOM
Jackson, TN: Sylvia Jean Russom age 74, passed away June 22, 2025, at her home in Jackson.
She was born May 4, 1951, in Selmer, the daughter of the late Charles Cliffton Russom and Imogene Roland Moore, she was raised in Finger. She graduated from Chester County High School in 1969 and attended the University of Memphis for one year. She worked as a surgical tech at Methodist Hospital Central in Memphis for thirty-seven years. She worked at several hospitals in the Memphis area while working at Methodist. She enjoyed going to concerts and was an avid University of Memphis basketball fan. She also enjoyed trips to Disney World and New Orleans. Sylvia enjoyed spending time with her family and extended family. She was an animal lover and had several special pets over the years.
She had made her home in the Bemis Community for the past fourteen years.
Besides her three sisters and their families, special friends and caregivers were Karen and Dena Blake and Diane Lindley.
She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Billy Roark, Kimberly & Dennis Emerson, Becky Marr, Mollie & Hector Espinoza and great nieces and nephews, Brooklyn Rush, Brayden Marr, Brianna Roark, Brittnie Wadley, Issac Espinoza, and Jack Espinoza.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Milbern Moore and her brother-in-laws, W.M. Roark Jr. and John David Wilson and extended family Michael Wadley.
She was a member of the Estes Church of Christ.
Sylvia is survived by three sisters, Sherry Moore Roark of Henderson, Wanda Moore Wilson of Bethel Springs and Cindy Moore Hamilton (Jeff) of Henderson.
Funeral services will be 4:00 PM Wednesday June 25th at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue Chapel with Bro. Ronnie Geary officiating and Dena Blake reading a poem. Burial will follow at Refuge Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue from 12:00 PM until 4:00 PM service time Wednesday.
