Tara Lynn Bustard

Tara Lynn Bustard was born on August 13, 1981, in Wilmington, Delaware and passed away on December 14, 2024 at home surrounded by her loving family.
She was a life-long resident of Middletown, DE. Tara was one of the first students to attend school in the Appoquinimink School District after P.L. 94-154 was passed that mandated children with disabilities be educated with a fair and appropriate education (later to become federal law IDEA). Tara loved going to school and having friends, she participated in a wide variety of sports with Special Olympics Delaware, she played t-ball on a team in her hometown and loved the Philadelphia Phillies baseball team and the Philadelphia Eagles football team. She was a wicked good dancer and enjoyed Dunkin Caramel Coffee Coolata. Tara attended Middletown High School and at the age of 17 Tara began part-time employment with MBNA and became a full-time employee at the age of 18. She continued to work at MBNA and then Bank of America for 23 years, after which she retired from the Bank.
Tara is survived by her mother, Patricia L Peirson Maichle of Middletown, her father, John Bustard of New Jersey, her three brothers, Eric G. Brenneman (Shelley) of New Castle, Lawrence J. Maichle (Amanda) of Middletown, and Joshua Bustard, her sister Mandy Bustard, four nieces (Grace, Samantha, Brooklyn and Haley Maichle) and three nephews (E.J., Joshua, and Zachary Brenneman). She was preceded in death by her baby sister Caitlin E. Maichle.
On Friday December 20th a viewing will be held from 10 -11 am at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown with a Mass following at 11:30 am at St. Joseph's Church, 371 E. Main St., in Middletown, DE. Interment will be at Old Drawyers Cemetery in Odessa, DE with lunch after.
