Terry Wayne Barker passed away on December 10, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of laughter and a blueprint for living life to the fullest. Born on September 29, 1963, in McAlester, Oklahoma.
Terry was the beloved husband of Jeannie Barker; father to: Terry Lee Barker, Linsey Collins, and Brooke Barker; and 'Papa' to Hayden, Alexia, Macelee, Kylynn, and Cale.
brother to many: Jewell, Annie, Diane, Melvia, Laverne, William, Jackey Don, Sherman, Karen, and Melody Ann; and his extended family of nieces, nephews, and a host of friends formed an audience that was always eager for his next performance.
He was preceded in death by his mother Norma, his father Gene, his brother Raymond, his sister Kathy, and his life-long friend George Cotton.
His career was as varied as his jokes, from the City of McAlester's Water Department to residential construction, and from Western Novelties to the proprietor of Uncle Terry's Bar, where the drinks were cold, but the welcomes were warm.
At Uncle Terry's Bar, he wasn't just the owner; he was the chief entertainer, the heart and soul of the establishment. His patrons weren't just customers; they were part of a loud, loving family that grew with every round served.
Terry's life was a masterclass in not taking oneself too seriously. He approached every day with a twinkle in his eye and a joke on his lips, knowing that the world could use a little more cheer. He was the life of the party, not because he craved the spotlight, but because he genuinely cared about spreading joy.
So, here's to Terry Wayne Barker-husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. May his final punchline be as joyous as the life he led, and may his laughter continue to be the soundtrack for those he's left behind. And remember, "don't forget to tip the bartender."
The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 13, 2024 at the Chaney Harkins Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at the Chaney Harkins Funeral Home Chapel followed by cremation.
Honorary pallbearers will be Leroy Ellis, Terry Campbell, Gary Wilson, Aaron Harmon, Terry Lee Barker, Chad Lightle and Selvin Cruce.
