Theodore E. Brobeck, Jr, 85, of Julian, passed away at his home on Tuesday, November 12, 2024. Born on May 21, 1939, at his parent's home in Altoona, he was the son of the late Theodore E. and Clara M. (Bettwy) Brobeck, Sr. On August 26, 1961, in Clearfield, he married his soul mate, Sonja R. Nelson, who survives at home.
Ted was a 1958 graduate of Altoona High School and furthered his education by earning a BA in Secondary Education from Lock Haven University and a MS in Library Science from Clarion University. He was a science teacher at Bald Eagle Area High School for 34 years, retiring in 1994.
Ted was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in State College. He was also a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity.
Ted enjoyed farming, making hay, making his own hunting arrows, hunting and ocean fishing. He became quite the general contractor, building his own home and then building out buildings and barns. He could do everything, including the plumbing and electrical work. Ted was very good at playing Pinochle and always welcomed family and friends to challenge him. He was an assistance wrestling coach at B.E.A. High School from many years.
Ted's favorite pastime was being with his family. He adored his children and grandchildren and treasured their visits.
Ted is survived by his wife, Sonja; three children: Theodore E. Brobeck, III, and his wife, Christina, of Julian, Josie Brobeck of Philipsburg, and Michael T. Brobeck and his wife, Lori, of Port Matilda; 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
He is also survived by three sisters: Kathleen Glunt and her husband, Henry, of Altoona, Mary Lou Burton of Oxford, PA, and Rosie Minster and her husband, Larry, of Willow Street, PA.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Timothy P. Brobeck.
Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, November 18, 2024, at 10am, at Our Lady of Victory Church in State College with Father George Jakopac officiating. Burial will be private.
