Theresa Ann Emmitt, born on January 22, 1969, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the late William D. Emmitt and the late Eula Rupe Emmitt, passed away on April 9, 2025, at TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, after a long illness. She was a beacon of light whose compassionate heart and passion for caring for others defined her remarkable journey through life.
Theresa was a passionate caretaker, devoted to the well-being of those around her, particularly children, whom she adored. Her fondness for travel, playing games, and cheering for her beloved New Orleans Saints were just a few of the joys that filled her life. She was educated at Tulane University, where her nurturing spirit blossomed, preparing her for the many roles she would embrace throughout her life.
For much of her life, Theresa resided with her sister Penny Edwards and her husband Bobby, who provided unwavering support and care during challenging times. Together, they created a loving home that was a true reflection of Theresa’s kind-hearted nature. She cherished her family deeply, leaving behind her sister Penny (Bobby), her brother Gary Emmitt (Catherine (Kaye), and her bonus sisters Stephanie Wise, Kim Lindsey, and Monica Middleton (Robert). Additionally, her bonus mom Roberta Emmitt, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles, carry her memory forward.
Theresa is predeceased by beloved family members, including her siblings, Ronnie Emmitt, Lelagail Rogers, and Charlie Emmitt; as well as her cherished grandparents, Lela York Rupe Tibbs (Howard), Clarence Rupe, Charlie Emmitt, and Thelma Thomas Emmitt Furlong (Les). Their love shaped her into the incredible person she became, and although they have departed, their spirits will forever be intertwined with her cherished legacy.
In a final act of kindness, Theresa made the choice to donate her organs after passing, illustrating her lifelong commitment to helping others even in her last moments. Her memory will be honored during a memorial service at Lifegate Church, located at 900 Coral Hill Rd, Glasgow, Kentucky, on April 26, 2025, at 2 PM, all is welcome to attend who knew her and loved her.
As we take the time to reflect on the life of Theresa Ann Emmitt, we celebrate a compassionate soul who touched so many with her loving spirit. She will be missed dearly but will forever remain in the hearts of those she loved and cared for.
