Thomas Allen Chaney June 29, 1947 – June 22, 2025
With deep sorrow, we share that Thomas Allen Chaney, 77, of Yukon, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2025, just one week shy of his 78th birthday.
Born on June 29, 1947, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, Tom lived a life marked by deep faith, quiet strength, and unwavering love for his family and community.
Tom was the son of the late Raymond and Pauline Chaney. He was preceded in death by his brothers Paul Chaney and John Chaney. He is survived by his brother Jim Chaney.
Tom graduated from U.S. Grant High School in 1965 and later earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Central Oklahoma in 1973. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and went on to devote more than five decades of his life to protecting others-serving 27 years with the Oklahoma City Police Department, retiring as a detective, and continuing his public service with the U.S. Marshals for another 26 years.
But beyond the badge, Tom was a man of quiet compassion and strong convictions. He married the love of his life, Patricia Sue (Tuck) Chaney, on June 4, 1970. Their 55-year marriage was a testament to devotion and grace. Together, they built a life filled with love, faith, and laughter.
He was the proud father of two children: Ashley Chaney Nopper and her husband Brian, and Jay Chaney and his wife Jayme. He was the beloved Papa to Coleman Nopper and Harrison Chaney, his treasured grandsons who brought him endless joy and pride.
Tom had a servant's heart. For 50 years, he served faithfully as a deacon, and for 40 years, he kept the books as treasurer of the Oklahoma City Police Association. He was deeply loyal, trustworthy, and kind-always giving more than he took, always working behind the scenes with humility and grace. His quiet humor, steady presence, and generous spirit touched everyone who knew him.
Tom was a rock for his family, a faithful servant to his community, and a man of deep character. He will be missed more than words can say-and remembered with love, always.
A celebration of Tom's life will be held on Friday, June 27, at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel at Crossings Community Church. He will be interned at Fort Sill National Cemetery at a later date.

Tom was a classmate in OCPD recruit school in 1973. We later worked together in the burglary unit. Tom was a quiet, serious, and dedicated worker and friend. He will be missed by all of us who knew him. God bless and comfort his family.
