Thomas D. "Tom" Crawford, 91, of Quarryville, formerly of West Grove, passed away at his home on Thursday, May 29, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Virginia M. (Handy) Crawford, with whom he shared 19 years of marriage. He was also the husband of the late Frances (Hogg) Crawford, sharing 44 years of marriage at the time of her passing in 2001.
Born in West Grove, he was the son of the late Thomas F. and Catherine (Fralick) Crawford.
Tom was a graduate of Avon Grove High School, class of 1951. Tom went on to have a career as a carpenter, first for his father, and then in 1964 for DuPont, retiring as a maintenance supervisor in 1992. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1953 to 1957.
Tom was an avid hunter and he was a founding member of the West Grove Hunt Club. Active in sports, he coached CYO Boys Basketball and actively followed the Philadelphia sports teams. He was known for being a skilled craftsman and woodworker, being able to build or fix anything. Tom was a life member of the West Grove Fire Company, serving in various roles, and he was a member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in West Grove.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Tracy (Dwayne) Peterson, of West Grove, Sharon (Brian) Heher, of Little Britain, and Tim (Louann) Larkin, of Chesapeake City, MD; grandchildren: Brandon (Sara) Peterson, of West Grove, Cody (Lauryn) Heher, of Willow Street, Connor Heher, of Little Britain, Dilan Larkin and Tyler Larkin, both of Chesapeake City, and Cheyanne Larkin, of Avondale; great-grandchildren, Charlee, Weston, John, Alonzo, and Alina; a sister, Betty Bruce, of Quarryville; and his faithful cats, Smokey and Blackie. In addition to his parents and his first wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Steven Larkin, and his brothers, Robert, John, and Ronald Crawford.
A Liturgy Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 5, at Saint Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 955 Robert Fulton Highway, Quarryville, PA 17566, with a time to visit with the family at the church from 10 AM – 11 AM. Interment will take place at 2:15 PM in Saint Patrick's Cemetery, 450 North Union Street, Kennett Square, PA 19348.
