Thomas A. "Tom" Frisbie

  Tom Frisbie of Sioux City, Iowa passed away on Friday, October 20, 2023, shortly after a swift decline in health following his younger brother, Terry’s untimely death a week earlier.

  A memorial service for brothers, Terry and Tom Frisbie will be held at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel at 822 Jennings St. in Sioux City, Iowa at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October 27, 2023. Visitation will be held with the family 1 hour prior to services.

  Tom was born in Sioux City, Iowa on July 29th, 1966, to Alan and Rebecca (Montagne) Frisbie. Tom was the oldest brother in the family and took pride in being a role model to his younger siblings.  Tom attended West High School where he loved playing sports and spending time with friends.  Tom was known for his competitive nature and quick-witted personality. Anything Tom put his mind to, he was able to accomplish. Tom’s intelligence and charisma resulted in many close friendships, but his integrity and loyalty are what strengthened those very same relationships throughout his life.

  If you knew Tom, you knew he was a Pittsburgh Steelers and San Antonio Spurs fan. He loved football and participated in Fantasy Football. Tom enjoyed darts and pool and was a professional at both of them. During his career, Tom was a supervisor at Gateway and also a bartender at Red’s Pub where he shared many precious memories with friends and family. Tom enjoyed being a sounding board and giving advice to both friends and strangers while bartending. Many friends recall Tom challenging them to hot sauces and other similar contests, which usually involved food. Tom definitely had some prankster personality traits similar to Terry, which helped keep him entertained at work. Bartending gave Tom an excuse to sink more into music, which explains why he was always running the jukebox. Music brought Tom joy, especially Black Label Society. Tom was a deep soul who connected with people and music on many levels.

  We must remind everyone that Tom was a man of his word. He had a heart of gold and loved his family deeply. Tom was so proud of his 3 children and their accomplishments. As he got older, Tom expressed wanting to become a grandpa someday. His wishes came true when he was recently blessed with 2 grandsons, Dom and Phoenix. While we are so grateful that Tom got to be a grandpa, we are so heartbroken that his time was cut short.

  Tom will be greatly missed by his son, Thomas Frisbie (Jessica), and their son, Dominic of Sioux City, Iowa. Daughters: Elizabeth Frisbie and her partner Brandon Turner of Sioux City, Iowa and Makayla Redden, her partner Jonathan Phillips, and their son, Phoenix of Stearns, Kentucky; Tom’s father, Alan Frisbie, and his long-time partner Jeanie Craig of Sioux City, Iowa; Sisters: Brenda Owen (Tim) of Salix, Iowa and Lorraine Frisbie of Sioux City, Iowa; Brother Tim Frisbie (Amanda) and many uncles, aunts, nieces, and nephews.

  Those welcoming Tom into heaven are brother, Terry Frisbie; Mother, Rebecca A. Frisbie (Montagne); Sister, Lisa Gruensteiner, Brother-in-law, Chip Groves; and uncle, Allen Montagne.

  We are so saddened to share the news of Terry and Tom.  Please join us in remembering them both while comforting each other during this tragic time.
