Thomas Gindling

Thomas "Hatrack" Gindling passed away peacefully on July 25th, 2025 surrounded by the love of his family at age 93. Lifetime resident of Sayler Park was born on February 29th, 1932 to Henry and Romilda Gindling. He attended St Aloysius On The Ohio grade school where he was a lifetime parishioner, graduated from Elder High School in 1950. He married his childhood sweetheart Joy (nee Pessler) in 1958 and built a wonderful life together while being proud members of the Sayler Park Community where they both grew up. They had 5 children, Tim, Don, Ron, Patty and Sue, 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. For 42 years Tom worked at Cincinnati Gas and Electric Company as an electrical inspector, where he made lifelong friends. He loved to play cards and golf, he was always up for some sort of game. And if you drove by his house you would probably see him on the tractor mowing the grass or tilling the garden. He loved anything Cincinnati sports: Bengals, Reds, UC, and Xavier. Tom loved to be around people old and young and always greeted everyone with a smile and a handshake.
Tom is preceded in death by his wife of almost 50 years Marian Joy (Nee) Pessler; parents Henry and Romilda (nee Tekulve) Gindling; siblings Marianne Merk and Dan Gindling; brother-in-law's Dugan, Dale and Dick Pessler, Alvin Merk and sister-in-law's Esther Gindling and Ruth Pessler.
Tom is survived by his children Thomas (Tim) (Harriet) Gindling, Donald (Beth) Gindling, Ronald (Melissa) Gindling, Patricia Gindling, Susan (Tom) O'Leary; Grandchildren Heather (Dan) Monnig, Abby (Zac) Asman, Caity (Nathan) Strotman, Miranda Gindling, Samantha O'Leary, Shannon O'Leary, Chris (Manon) O'Leary; and Boo Boo to his great-grandchildren Reagan and Jacob Monnig, Elijah, Archie and Otto Asman, William, Callahan and Joy Strotman, Lilah Richardson and Declan O'Leary; siblings Larry Gindling and Betty Kollmann and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held at Brater Winter Funeral Home, located at 138 Monitor Ave., on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, from 5 PM until 8PM. Mass will take place at St. Aloysius Church, located in Sayler Park, on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at 11 AM with burial to follow at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Aloysius on the Ohio Church. A representative from the funeral home will be available to assist with memorial arrangements at the visitation.
