Thomas Eugene Hayes, 83, of Valdosta, passed away on Monday, February 27, 2023 at his home. He was born on March 29, 1939 in Gainesville, GA, to the late Charles and Edna Byers Hayes. He was a Mason for 50 years and served his country in Korea. He worked in civil service at Moody AFB from 1956-1989. As owner of Hayes Income Tax and Accounting service for 52 years, he enjoyed the privilege of serving many friends who became family. Mr. Hayes was a member of Perimeter Road Baptist Church. He loved his mountain home in Tennessee, trips to the beach, and cheering his beloved Georgia Bulldawgs on to back-to-back National Championships.
Mr. Hayes is survived by his wife Jan Hayes, of Valdosta; daughter Marlena Drummond, of Ellijay, GA, daughter and son-in-law, Jessica and Jason Nelson, of Perry, GA; and son Thomas Jeffrey Hayes, of Valdosta; his grandchildren Baleigh Drummond, and Morgan Drummond; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dr. Brad and Vicki Bynum of Valdosta; brother-in-law, Stanley Bone, of Adel, GA; and nephews, Bradley Bynum, and Aulden Bynum. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Jessie Swails, second wife, Juliet Saliba Coker Hayes, and infant son, brothers Waymen Hayes, James Hayes, sister Lorene Norell, and son-in-law Michael Drummond.
